What is the Obagi Blue Peel Radiance
Obagi Blue Peel Radiance is a superficial chemical peel that is appropriate for all skin types, which exfoliates the skin. It’s quick, easy and amazing! It can be used as a stand-alone chemical peel and it can also be used when patients are starting or undergoing the Obagi Nu-derm, Clenziderm or Obagi C–rx skin care system, to optimise the results.
As with most peels, it contains Salicylic Acid. It also has a blend of lactic and glycolic acids and it has extra calming agents like Willow Bark and Licorice Root, to help soothe your skin. Because of these extra additives to help soothe your skin the peel is ideal for people with sensitive skin.

How is the Blue Peel Radiance different from other peels?
The Blue Peel Radiance is different because it gives us much more control on the depth of the skin we are treating. By selecting the number of layers to apply to your skin, we can accurately tailor the chemical peel process to your skin’s individual needs. The Peel also gives us flexibility in treating various parts of your body including the face, neck, chest, hands, back, arms, and legs.
How does the Obagi blue peel work?
After cleaning your skin with our special Blue Peel Prep Solution our doctor will then apply the Blue Peel typically to your face and neck. A mild burning sensation will occur that generally lasts only a few minutes. Then you may experience a bluish tint to your skin that usually washes off in 12 to 24 hours. The procedure takes about 20 minutes and does not require sedation. Our Dr will advise you on how many peels are needed to give you the best result.
The Blue Peel works by forcing your dead skin cells up to the surface where they are then shed. At the same time it stimulates collagen production underneath your skin. The special ingredients of the peel, which include salicylic, glycolic, and lactic acids work to clean out your pores and refresh your skin cells.
What to expect after your peel?
Depending on the strength and depth of the peel, you will experience light swelling and redness following the procedure. Within 2 to 3 days, your skin will begin to peel. This peeling continues over the next several days. The peeling is mild in nature and there is no downtime from it. By Days 7 to 10, your skin should be healed.
After a treatment with Blue Peel RADIANCE, you will need to care for your skin to maximise and maintain results. The single most important thing to remember after any chemical peel is to wear non-chemical sun protection (SPF 50) at all times.
How many peels do I need?
Though results can be seen with a single Blue Peel Radiance treatment, optimal results are usually achieved with a series of 4-6 peels. Each peel can be repeated as often as every two weeks, if necessary for damaged skin.
How badly will I peel?
The skin peeling associated with the Blue Peel Radiance is a very light one. Peeling usually starts around days 2-3 after your peel. By days 7 to 10, your skin should be healed.
