Hot Stones Massage

Header_OrchidStones.png

Our Hot Stone massage is designed to help our patients relax and ease tension. During your massage, smooth, heated stones are placed on specific parts of your body to encourage the body to detox, heal & relax. The type of stones used helps ease muscle tension and damaged soft tissues throughout your body. The stones are made of basalt, a type of volcanic rock that retains heat.
The stones are placed along your spine, palms and feet. Our massage therapists hold the heated stones as they massage your body using Swedish massage techniques such as long strokes, circular movements, vibration, tapping and kneading. The combination of hot and cold stones encourages your body to detox and heal through increasing your lymphatic flow and encouraging your body to remove waste products.

Shea Butter Massage

Uses Shea butter for your massages as great benefits for dry and cracked skin. Shea butter is the fat of the nut of the African Shea tree.

Shea butter has been shown to be have anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Several fatty acids and plant sterols, namely oleic, stearic, palmitic and linolenic acids, contribute to the healing properties in Shea butter.

Shea butter contains vitamins A and E, as well as catechins. These plant antioxidants are also found in green tea. While it is unclear how well vitamins A and E in raw Shea butter are absorbed, there is evidence to suggest that cinnamic acid esters in Shea fat help to prevent skin damage from ultraviolet radiation.

This massage is combined with the therapist using their hands to massage the body, helping release muscle tension and leave you feeling relaxed.

Bamboo has earned its reputation for its holistic and soft appearance. Our massage uses solid bamboo sticks of different lengths and diameters to massage the body. The bamboo cane replaces the hand of the therapist, giving a deep and firm massage. The cane is rolled over the muscle with the same strokes they would use with their hands. The sticks are applied to give deep and long massage strokes to break down tension and stretch tight and stiff muscles.

Bamboo Massage Benefits:

  • Circulation

  • Sensory nerve perception

  • Improved sleep

  • Increases lymphatic drainage

  • Releases endorphins

  • Provides a deep sense of relaxation

Apart from relieving you of stress and tension, the bamboo massage is also known to improve the texture of your skin. The silica from bamboo extract helps your body absorb essential minerals such as potassium, calcium and magnesium. It also offers anti-irritant properties that soothe your skin when applied directly through creams and lotions. Silica plays a great role in keeping your skin and hair healthy. Apart from this, it can even alleviate eczema and psoriasis. Bamboo extract contains antioxidants that help minimise wrinkles.
